WETUMPKA, Ala. (AP) - Police say a 17-year-old girl and her
25-year-old ex-boyfriend are dead after officers responded to a
call of a potential hostage situation.

Police arrived at the home at about 6 p.m. on Thursday and
officers determined the man was holding the girl against her will.
After three hours of negotiations, the Elmore County Sheriff's
Department's special operations team entered the home and found the
man and woman in the rear bedroom and the man allegedly had a
12-gauge shotgun pointed at the girl's head.

Authorities say officers shot the man in the chest and the man
shot the girl in the head with the shotgun. Haley Wingard and
Derrick Bean were both pronounced dead.

The incident is still under investigation and authorities say
domestic violence may have been the motive.
