The investigation is still said to be ongoing but an arrest has been made.
35-year-old Andrea Lenette Culver has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of her 6 month old son.
The incident started Sunday around 10:25 a.m. at 611 Ashland Drive.
Medics arrived at the scene after the baby was reportedly not breathing.
The infant was taken to southeast alabama medical center ... Where he was pronounced dead.
News 4 spoke with a family member off camera who says the whole thing was an accident.
She said the baby boy got caught between a head board and mattress.
Investigators have not confirmed this information.
However they did say the baby was left unattended for an extended period of time.
"Anytime you have a death it's a serious matter but everyone kind of takes the death of an infant to heart. This little guy, he didn't have a chance. So we are here to speak for him and make sure that justice is served, " says Dothan Police Department's Lt. Will Benny.
Investigators also say Culver has a record dealing with issues involving children.
Depending on her record, Culver faces a minimum of 10 years up to 99 years in prison if convicted.
