More Businesses Coming to Dothan

More and more businesses are popping up in Dothan.
If you haven't noticed several constructions sites are all over the city.

Chris Smith has been in the construction business for more than eight years and he can tell business is good in Dothan

"It gives us work and I'm glad to see them and we have some local guys getting jobs around here and so it's good for everybody," says construction plaster Chris Smith.

At the chamber of commerce the sentiments are the same.

"That's always great because they create jobs, they also create a more diverse environment," says Steve Turkoskoi, Dothan Chamber of Commerce Project Manager.

And a diverse environment makes the city more attractive for potential business owners.
Construction sites are going up all over Dothan, which is a great sign.

"The city's doing good, we've got several prospects coming to Dothan, you're seeing business all over opening up," says Dothan Mayor Mike Schmitz.

"If in fact you wanted to open a this would be a really good place to do it, because we have such an influx of people and they do obviously spend their money," says Steve Turkoskoi, Dothan Chamber of Commerce Project Manager.

When people spend money nearly everyone makes money.
And lining the pockets Chris Smith helps keep our economy going.
According to the Dothan Chamber of Commerce the city draws from a large radius of about 500,000 people, which is great for sales tax revenue and financial stability for the city.
The chamber also says we are seeing a lot of businesses popping up after the economic turndown in 2007, because thousands of people lost their jobs and decided to start their own businesses.
