MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile is getting ready to celebrate New
Year's Eve with a giant Moon Pie drop and music by the O'Jays.

Mayor Sam Jones says the city's free celebration on Dec. 31 will feature a Mardi Gras-style parade, two stages of entertainment, and
a 12-foot-tall Moon Pie descending from a 34-story building. The descent will be accompanied by a laser show and fireworks.

Mobile celebrates the Moon Pie on New Year's Eve because the
sweet treats are traditionally thrown by revelers from floats in Mardi Gras parades in the port city.
