On October 22, 2012, Agent Greg Jackson conducted an investigation which involved the execution of a search warrant at the residence of Roy and Gwyndol Draper on Nelson Road in the Babbie area.
Mr. an Mrs. Draper were stopped by ABC Agents, Opp Police Department, Sheriff Meeks, and Chief Sonny Bedsole of Florala on Cummings Avenue in Opp. During which time the Covington County Incident Response Team was executing the search warrant on the residence.
Agents at the residence located what is believed by law enforcement to be Ice/methamphetamine, Marijuana, and items believed to be associated with the consumption and distribution of said controlled substance. Along with controlled substances found was a stolen four wheeler which was turned over to the Covington County Sheriff's Office Investigator.
Both Roy and Gwyndol Draper were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in the first degree, and receiving stolen property in the first degree. Task force commander Mark Odom stated that this investigation is only one of many to come in the near future.
We must take a proactive stance in our efforts to Save our communities from the ravages of this epidemic call illegal drugs. The very lives of our families depend on the success of these investigation.
