FT. RUCKER, AL-- Many are looking forward to a long weekend, but tributes for our soldiers have already started.
Today Fort Rucker held their annual Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Park. Dozens of people were there to honor those who died serving our country.
Here are some of the remarks by Deputy Commander Col. Doug Gabram:
“Celebrate and remember every single man and woman serving in the army today.”
“But let us not also forgot the people nationally and locally who will not make the pages of history, but never the less deserve our respect and homage.”
“Remember the sacrifices that are made to enjoy the freedoms we have today.”
“For those who fought for it, freedom has a price that the protected will never know.”
“No words can describe our appreciation.”
“Many return home to streets decorate with yellow ribbons and American flags. But for others, they return home in a casket draped with the most honored decoration of all.”
“They gave their lives to support and defend this nation to them we owe our future.”
“Memorial Day may last only 24 hours. And it occurs only once a year. But remember that our gratitude and pride should show everyday remember those who fought and died for our precious way of life, those who made the ultimate sacrifice and remember the families they left behind that are still paying the price.”
