COLUMBIANA, Ala. (AP) - A 19-year-old Leeds man was being held on $1 million bond after authorities say he ran a stop sign,
causing a wreck that killed three people.
Authorities say Manley Ray Williams faces three counts of
reckless murder and one count of first-degree assault.
The accident killed 32-year-old Jessica Wyatt Fields of Sylacauga and her sons, 9-year-old Tony Ray Fields and 7-year-old John Clay Fields.
Fields' 12-year-old daughter, Angelia Fields, was flown to
Children's Hospital in serious condition.
The crash took place Friday night on U.S. 280 near Westover.
Troopers say Williams failed to stop at a stop sign and his Ford
Mustang collided with Fields' van.
Troopers say alcohol and excessive speed were contributing factors.
Williams was being held in the Shelby County jail.
