The Lyster Army Health Clinic on Fort Rucker is the only DOD facility in the country able to open up a low-cost hearing aid program to dependents of retirees.
It is all part of a program called the retiree-at-cost hearing aid program.
They offer not only retirees, but their dependents, state-of-the-art…brand name hearing aids at a drastically reduced price.
Normally one hearing aid will cost $2,000-3,000. This program offers them for 300 to 400 dollars per hearing aid.
Jamie Crook, Lyster Chief Audiologist said, “A lot of posts are not able to offer the program just because of staffing and things of the nature but we are able to do it here. And we really enjoy being able to do it here because it’s such a great service and it saves the retirees so much money and as long as we are able to do it. We are willing and able to do it.”
