Lockhart trial resumes in death of AU student
OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - Prosecutors are expected to present more technical testimony in Courtney Lockhart's trial for capital murder
in the death of Auburn freshman Lauren Burk.
The trial in Opelika moved into its eighth day Wednesday.
Prosecutors are expected to wrap up presentation of their case against the 26-year-old Lockhart, an Iraq War veteran.
He is accused of kidnapping the 18-year-old Burk of Marietta, Ga., in her car. Prosecutors say he robbed her and shot her in the back as she attempted to escape.
Lockhart's attorneys claim he was mentally disturbed because of experiences during his tour in Iraq.
