A local musician is vying for the opportunity of a lifetime to have his song played in outer space.

The song was submitted by Kurt Lanham from Dothan.

He along with hundreds of other artists are competing for their song to be chosen as NASA’s shuttle mission wake-up song.

The winning song will be played to wake the astronauts on the last two shuttle sessions.

The contest is determined by votes and Lanham is counting on you.
