DOTHAN, AL--So far two Alabama volunteers from the American Red Cross have deployed to Oklahoma, one from Birmingham and one from Scottsboro.
Officials say they anticipate more deployments in the coming days and weeks
Both the local Red Cross and Salvation Army's emergency response vehicle and canteen are still on standby.
"At this time we don't have any local volunteers deploying to Oklahoma but that could change as everything develops people want to know how to help and the very best way that they can help in this situation is to make a financial contribution so that we have what we would need available right now," said Susan Holmes with Red Cross.
"None of us are allowed to move on our own, when a request is made, we have to put it through to our divisional office which is in jackson, mississippi and then they determine if we go out of our jurisdiction to another state where there's a need," said Major Jack Vaughn with Salvation Army.
Red Cross has opened 6 shelters in Oklahoma and sent 27 emergency response vehicles to the area.
Both groups say they do have volunteers ready to go, just incase they get the call.
