You might remember that after the City Commission Election in August, Lamesa Danzey claimed that 37 absentee votes were illegally cast for commissioner Amos Newsome.
I spoke with Newsome’s lawyer just a few minutes ago and he tells me that after an in-depth study of evidence there simply wasn't enough to support Danzey's claim.
Newsome defeated Danzey in the election by 14 votes, but she contested the election.
Danzey countered that Newsome had nearly 24 times the number of absentee votes that she had.
Newsome's lawyer commented that this case had been filed on gossip rather than facts and that when Danzey came to that realization both parties agreed to dismiss the case.
Danzey will cover the $500 in court costs.
