OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - Jury selection is scheduled in the capital murder trial of a man accused of kidnapping and killing an Auburn University student from Georgia.

Circuit Judge Jacob Walker set jury selection to begin Monday morning in Opelika for the trial of Courtney Lockhart of Smiths Station. Lockhart is accused of killing an 18-year-old Auburn freshman, Lauren Burk of Marietta, Ga., in 2008.

She was abducted in her own car, shot and dumped along a roadway. Then her car was driven back to campus and set afire. Police say the 26-year-old defendant confessed after his arrest.

The judge has placed a gag order on everyone involved with the trial to try to keep down pretrial publicity.
