A Dothan-born judge received the Alabama Bar Association's highest honor. Judge P.B. McLauchlin was awarded the Judicial Award of Merit based on his legal and community service.
Judge Randall Cole nominated McLauchlin. "He epitomizes the qualities of a good judge. First of all he has a lot of experience, a good judicial demeanor, and good judgment. He has served not only the people of his circuit extremely well over the years but he has served statewide," said Judge Cole.
"You can't really say whether you deserve something or don't deserve something but to get an honor like this, it just kind of caps off a long career, judicially. I would say I got the award but you can give credit to all the people I worked for," said Dale County Circuit Judge P.B. McLauchlin.
Judge McLauchlin was sworn into office 37 years ago. This makes him the second longest serving judge in the state of Alabama.
