MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Justice Jim Main says he will seek election to a full six-year term on the Alabama Supreme Court.

Gov. Bob Riley appointed him to the court in January to finish the unexpired term of Justice Champ Lyons, who retired. Main had previously served on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals and had
been Riley's state finance director prior to becoming a judge.

Main says he will qualify with the Alabama Republican Party on Monday. He has no announced opposition. Main said Wednesday his experience as the state's chief financial officer during Riley's administration will help him work with his colleagues to find solutions to the financial problems facing Alabama's courts.
