The Dothan City Commission swore in its newest member Tuesday.
Melinda McClendon was approved as the Interim District 6 Commissioner earlier this month after former commissioner Keith Seagle resigned.
An Auburn graduate and small business owner, McClendon has been active in community projects including the Miracle Field and playground.
She says she doesn't foresee any major accomplishments during her time in office.
“I’m here to learn really. We've got this impression that politicians are supposed to be really great speakers. When in fact a good politicians are supposed to be great listeners. So I'm going to zip my lip and listen to what's going on in the city,” says McClendon.
A special election will be held March 8th to fill the District 6 Commission Seat.
