Spring Break season is winding down and so is the increased police activity along the highways in the Wiregrass.
Headland Police say they saw a steep jump in drug arrests this spring break season.
They made nearlt 40 percent more arrests this March than last year. And more than half the arrests were drug related off of Highway 431.
“Closer they get to Panama City the more excited they get and naturally they start partying before they get there and these cases here we’ve got them stopped when you go up to the car and smokes coming out of the window. Where they are actually smoking and going down the highway.”
The police chief says they have seen a lot more weapons seized during the drug arrests.
