HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Police have arrested a man who was shot earlier this week by a Huntsville police officer after a car chase.
The Huntsville Times reports that police formally arrested 49-year-old Darrell Doak Callahan Thursday.
Police say Callahan robbed a Morgan City pharmacy and then drove to Huntsville, where an officer spotted his car.
Police say a short chase ended when Callahan's car hit another in an intersection shortly before 5 p.m. Monday.
An officer shot Callahan after he pulled a gun and refused to drop it while trying to flee on foot.
Callahan faces charges of drug trafficking, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of a controlled substance, menacing, reckless endangerment and attempting to elude a police officer. He also faces robbery charges in Morgan County.
He was being held in the Madison County jail on $1.5 million
