Houston County Sheriff's Department Looking to Get Homeland Security Grant

The Houston County Sheriff's Department is looking to get a grant that can help with their homeland security measures.

Commissioners and law enforcement officials discussed a $60,000 grant.

At the administrative Houston County Commission meeting Thursday, officials say the grant will help keep the equipment they have up to date and help get additional equipment to continue homeland security duties.

Officials say grants like this contribute to the success of the department.
"To keep our equipment up and to take care of it and also so that we can purchase other equipment that we need to sustain our team," said Capt. Jeff Carlisle.

The grant will be voted on at the Houston County Commission meeting Monday.
