Local residents are gearing up to use their green thumb.
The Houston County extension office offers a Master Gardeners training class each year.
It's a 12-week course that goes through a variety of subjects, like plant propagation and the different types of soils.
Students also have to complete 50 hours of volunteer work.
"This is a means of spreading the word of gardening throughout the population because agents cannot see everyone but we train master gardeners so they can deliver the message," said Reafield Vester, Horticultural Consultant Extension Office.
If you have any questions about the master gardener's training program, call the extension office at 334 794 4108.
