Both of the metal detectors are not working. Now, deputies will be screening visitors using a hand-held detector.
The line is expected to be long next week with many jury trials on the docket. Just a reminder, make sure you leave any knives or other items that can be considered weapons in your car. Otherwise you'll slow down the line.
The Houston County Sheriff's Office is asking for funding from the Alabama Office of the Courts for a new detector. The Houston County Commission has agreed to pick up the remaining cost.
