DOTHAN, AL--As a five-time cancer survivor, Linda Daniels knows all too well the importance of having support.
"When you got that support you know you gone make it."
Daniels says she believes that support is a big reason she's a survivor.
"I'm telling you when i was going through the cancer if I didn't have people that care and love me it would have been a whole lot harder."
Daniels and about 50 other cancer survivors throughout Houston County gathered Thursday to get the latest information on services and groups available to them in the area.
"We want to be able to give them any information that they need and let them know that we are always here for them," said Survivor Committee Chair and caregiver, Amanda Barron.
Daniels says she can only describe the support in houston county with one word.
"Wonderful, this is just really wonderful to get together with other survivors."
She says she's excited about the upcoming relay for life event.
She sees it as a way for other people to express their support and keep them in mind.
"Your family members, church members and people in the community, let them know that we're here, we survived this and we want you to come and join us and help support us."
Support that could be that extra push someone needs to keep surviving.
Houston County's Relay for Life event is May 3rd.
