Houston Co. Commission Discusses Budget

Houston County - The Houston County Commission will vote on budgetary amendments at Monday's meeting.

At Wednesday's administrative meeting commissioners discussed overspending for this past year's budget.

There were only five departments went over budget, and Chairman Mark Culver said each was an issue out of the county's control.

"We have great department heads, and they are very conscientious about the money the taxpayers send us. They understand we should be very frugal with it. No issues with the budget. It's actually a very good budget. It allowed us to approve a better budget this year," said Culver.

The county will also roll some items onto next years budget.

The sheriff's office will be allowed to purchase new vehicles and ammunition using money left over from last fiscal year.
