By Order of Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, all Circuit and District Clerk’s Offices statewide shall be closed to the general public on Wednesdays of each week beginning March 20, 2013. In compliance with said Order, the Houston County Circuit Clerk’s Office will be open to the public Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. -- 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. -- 4:30 p.m. The hours of the Houston County Courthouse are not affected.
For time-sensitive filings, a secure drop box will be established outside of the Houston County Circuit Clerk’s Office for receiving, recording, and documenting the receipt of documents with specific instructions. Additional provisions will be made and posted as it relates to the securing of true emergency matters such as warrants, Protection from Abuse Petitions, Restraining Orders, and the like when the office is closed to the public.
During such time as the Houston County Circuit Clerk’s Office is closed to the public by said Order, employees shall continue to report to work at their normal times and perform their usual duties.
