UPDATE: House Fire in Newville

UPDATE: 1:03 p.m.

The Newville Volunteer Fire Department has the house fire on Highway 173 put out.

News 4 talked with the family. They were renting this home. The woman home at the time said she heard a popping noise and ran outside. That's when she saw the house burst into flames.

Initial reports indicate the fire started in the kitchen. There is a possibility it was an electrical issue.

It took an extended amount of time to get the fire under control because there were no fire hydrants nearby, and firefighters were forced to truck water in.

No one was injured.

We'll hear from the family tonight on News 4.
A house is on fire in Newville.

Firefighters are saying the home is a total loss.

There are no fire hydrants near the scene so trucks are having to make water runs to help keep the fire from spreading.

News 4's Ashley Edlund is on the scene and we will update with more information when it becomes available.
