If there is ever an emergency, Houston County is prepared.
That's because they are a regional provider of homeland security services.
And for having so many teams like hazmat, and the swift water rescue, the county qualifies for certain grants.
Commissioners learned the county is receiving 4 grants totaling more than 57-thousand dollars.
"We are region two in the state of Alabama and each region maintains certain teams. We are just lucky enough to have all the regional teams as far as the numbers." Emergency Management Director Clark Matthews said.
Clark says they are excited to get the money and use it to better the teams.
