ECHO, AL-- Volunteer fire departments rely heavily on the support of their community to operate. Now Echo’s volunteer crew wants to give back.
This Saturday morning they are going around to any home in their coverage area and installing or changing to batteries of smoke detectors. All free of charge.
The community has helped the department raise funds for an updated fire station.
Echo Fire Chief Eric Blankenship said, “Our community here has been very supportive to help with us. So, it is the least we can do to make sure their homes are protected, have smoke detectors and any fire prevention we can do, it is easier to stop a fire before it ever starts.”
To let the department know you want them to come to your home comment on this Facebook link: http://on.fb.me/12pnQD8
