The rest stop right off of 231 south has been having multiple issues with its sewer system.
After about a year of negotiations, the state of Alabama has decided to hook onto Houston County’s solid waste disposal facility.
But in order to do this, there will be some work that will have to be done.
"The cost estimate was at 60-thousand, but it looks like it is going to be closer to 80 thousand. We had some and requirements we had to meet. Our agreement with the state is that they will pay over three years pay the total cost of the upgrade to the facility," Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver said.
The upgrades to the facility will be completed by October the first.
Once the expansion process is completed, Houston County will then bill the state like any other customer.
