The Henry County Jail is getting a new roof.
The commission considered three different bidders for the project, before going with the lowest bid at $17,000. The jail is an older building, and has been an ongoing expense because of its leaky roof.
"We could have patched the roof for probably $4-5,000, but we would have still had the same problem. Wish we would have done this three weeks ago before all those rains came,” said David Money of the Henry County Commission Chairman.
The new commission chairman thinks that like many counties they will eventually need a new jail.
