Some four-legged friends in Headland need your help… and there’s a fun way you and your pet can assist.
Tank came to the Headland animal shelter after he and some other male dogs got in a fight over a female.
“He had an ear that was about torn off that we had sewn back on, stitches put in it, his leg as you can see back there was stitched up twice,” says CHARM Headland’s Jim Geisler.
But that’s not where Tank’s health problems began.
“He has some hip problems and feet problems from a car accident when he was younger. He doesn’t let it slow him down,” says Geisler.
Like Tank, many of the animals that come into the shelter here at Charm Headland have serious medical needs.
“He came in with all his injuries, there wouldn’t have been a shelter that would have kept him, they would have put him down,” says Geisler.
But at the Charm Headland shelter, “They all deserve a chance, don’t you boy, you deserve to lay at somebody’s feet,” says Geisler.
The shelter depends on donations to get these dogs the medical care they need and find them homes and this weekend you can help by attending their pet friendly festival to raise a large chunk of their much needed funds.
“We’re just animal people and when you see some of the abuse some of these animals sustain and how bad, how people scared they are I mean, it just kind of breaks your heart. You just want to help them,” says Geisler.
Tank would really appreciate it.
The 4th Annual Pawsfest is Saturday, March 26th from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on the square in Headland.
“Bring your animals and have a good time. It’s all about people and their animals. We want all pets to be people friendly but just bring your animals out and have a good time Saturday,” says Geisler.
They have a ton of events planned including live music, contests and a pet parade.
