Heard magnet school wanted to start their school year off right, and get kids excited.
They had an open house Thursday.
This year's theme was transportation.
The school had a gravity buster and even a helicopter land for the students.
But this open house did much more than bring in fun events for the kids.
"Open house is incredibly important because the first impression the school community, parents especially, get of the school." PTO organizer Lydia Kirkland said.
Kirkland says the open house was also a good time for parents to learn more about how they can volunteer and be a part of p-t-o meetings.
