This story was updated at 6 p.m. with additional information.

The arrest of Jonathon Terrell Banks, 18, by Headland Police closes all open armed robbery cases in the city.

According to police, Banks had a knife when he demanded the clerk give him money. He then fled but was able to be tracked down by a Houston County tracking dog.

The clerk also recognized the suspect because he wore the same outfit a few days prior in the Chevron.

That lead also helped police positively identify the suspect.
Once Banks was in custody police say he was connected to a robbery at the B P station down the street from the Chevron.

That robbery happened on Christmas Eve back in 2011 when a suspect threatened the clerk with a machete.

“So we have got all of our robberies solved. It feels very good, any kind of armed robbery going into a clerk. The officers having to respond. You never know the demeanor of the person," said Chief Mark Jones of Headland Police.

Police were able to recover a lot of the stolen money.

Banks does have a juvenile record and is being held in Henry County Jail on $288,000 bond.

The Headland Police Department responded to the Chevron Station on U.S. 431 in Headland in reference to an armed robbery on Saturday, July 6.

Upon arrival at the scene, the clerk told police that the man was wearing a blue Headland hoodie and a black bandana that covered his mouth. The man was allegedly armed with a knife and demanded money before he fled the scene on foot.

The subject, identified as Jonathon Terrell Banks, 18, of Valleyview Terrace in Headland, was tracked down by the Houston County Sheriff’s Department tracking team.

Banks was arrested and charged with robbery in the first degree for the July 6 incident. An investigation into Banks resulted in an additional robbery charge for the Dec. 24, 2011 armed robbery at a BP station on U.S 431 in Headland.

Banks was booked at the Henry County Jail on $153,000.00 bond on the Chevron robbery and will be taken for a first appearance on Tuesday for the BP robbery.
