It's called "Harvest For Health".

The program got its start a few years ago in Birmingham.

The goal is to pair cancer survivors with master gardeners from the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.

Researchers want to turn gardening into a healing process.

Researchers say so far it's been successful and they want to keep things growing.

"I think that it will help Dothan and the surrounding areas to one be aware of our cancer survivors that we have. This particular study does focus on breast cancer patients however in the future they hope for it to go nationally, " says Lucy Edwards, Regional Extension Agent.

This particular study focuses on breast cancer survivors; they are currently looking for 5 in Houston County.
