It’s nothing uncommon for James Greenwood to go through pounds of ground beef a week.
In fact, he loaded up on his shopping trip to Winn-Dixie.
And he may have to go back, not to restock but to return.
“I have to go back in and check it because I don't know if it's any good,” said Greenwood.
Greenwood isn’t the only one checking which type of ground beef he bought.
A statement released Friday by the United States Department of Agriculture announced a recall of
ground beef distributed from the National Beef Packing Company in Dodge City, Kansas.
E. coli could be in the beef.
Affected grocery stores include Publix, Winn-Dixie and Kroger.
As a parent, Hope Nix has a lot of little ones in the house.
And that means a lot of mouths to feed.
Nix says, “Hamburger and chicken and things like that are so popular especially when you have small kids and to think that it's getting, it's really scary.”
All the affected stores are voluntarily removing the ground beef and will take back any listed in the recall for a full refund.
Luckily, there have been no reports of illness from the ground beef.
Good news for consumers like Greenwood.
