Beatrice Clebert's old expedition was tough on her wallet.
Clebert said, “I was paying 100 dollars to fill up my truck, I decided it was time to get something more economical.”
That was two years ago, and Clebert can only imagine what she would have paid today.
Clebert said, “Oh my god, I would have filled at least 2-3 times already. I just filled my car once to come and just once to go back and I still have gas left over.”
But she isn't a trailblazer. Dealers in the circle city say you won't believe the number of people they get on their lots looking for a trade
Mazda General Sales Manager Billy Pfalzgraff said, “Trades in or customers coming in probably in a week, 30-35.”
Alabama, Florida and Georgia all made the list for most consumer benefits when it comes to cars and paying for gas.
But drivers aren't settling for sky high prices, even after they've traded in their gas guzzlers.
Clebert said, “I think it's ridiculous that we're paying this much for gas, when I first moved to the south, I was paying about a dollar 77 seven years ago and right now we're paying 4 dollars and that's ridiculous.”
Dealers say they just don't see gas prices going down, and are filling their lots with cars they know will sell.
On our used side we've cut back on buying the bigger stuff, we try to stick with the smaller 4 cylinders with the better fuel economy
Still, anything customers like Clebert can save is enough.
Clebert said, “It's a 60 dollars saving, and keep in mind that I was filling at 100 dollars maybe two to three times a week.”
