Future of Dothan SRO's

Dothan city schools could have better security soon.

The Dothan Police Department is applying for a grant that would help fund more school resource officers.

Tuesday, the city commission and school leaders entered into a formal agreement. If they receive the grant, the money will be used for SRO’s.

This is just one more step in the application process.

“This is actually just starting the process. We've actually for the past 3 years have applied and been turned down. We hope and feel optimistic that we have a good chance,” said Dothan City Manager Mike West.

They should know if they'll receive the grant by October.
