MONTGOMERY – The Alabama Department of Transportation has approved over $800,000 in Federal Transportation Enhancement for funds for street and sidewalk improvements in Samson, Geneva, Hartford and Florala.
Samson will receive $182,013 for downtown sidewalk improvements. Geneva will receive $130,080 for streetscape improvements to State Route 27, East Town Avenue. Hartford will receive $272,700 for downtown streetscape improvements along State Route 123, East Main Street. Florala will get $231,748 for sidewalk improvements on Fifth Street in Florala.
The Federal Transportation Enhancement (TE) program offers opportunities to help communities expand and enhance transportation projects for pedestrian and bicycle infrastructures and safety, scenic and historic highways, landscaping and scenic beautification, historic preservation, and environmental mitigation.
