What: 20th Annual Chili Cook Off/5K and “Salute to Military Families”
WHEN: Saturday, November 5, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: Fort Rucker Festival Fields
DISCUSSION: The 20th Annual Chili Cook Off and 5K is November 5 at the Fort Rucker festival fields.
The event begins with a 5K run at 9:00 a.m. and promises fun for the whole family. Children may participate in a one-mile fun run at 10 a.m. Awards for first, second and third place in a variety of age categories will be presented to runners at 11:15 a.m. following the Salute to Military Families ceremony. During the ceremony two military families nominated by the Fort Rucker community will be recognized and presented the “Families of Excellence” award.
Entries for the youth art and/or essay contest will also be recognized. The theme for the Art contest was "My Military Family" and the essay theme was "What being in a Military Family means to me." All applicants will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and a book bag filled with gifts.
Chili teams will prepare chili, and attendees can purchase chili for $1 per cup; all proceeds benefit the AAAA scholarship fund. Chili judging begins at noon and Chili Awards will be presented at 2:00 p.m.
