The rainy weather didn’t stop Fort Rucker’s soldiers from honoring their outgoing and incoming commanding generals

“Those of you who have taken the time out of your schedule today, to pay tribute to those soldiers, to pay tribute to their families, the incoming outgoing command team, thank you all. Because this is why we do it.” Lieutenant General Perkins said.

The outgoing commanding general Anthony Crutchfield didn’t leave without giving words of wisdom with a few punch lines.
Quoting a phrase from his favorite movie Forrest Gump.

“Two years ago when I got here, life was really like a box of chocolates because you didn’t know what you were going to get. What I hope you got and what I tried to give you was someone who cared who cared about soldiers, someone who cared about their families, someone who cared about this community and someone who is honored to stand in front of this formation.” Outgoing commanding general Anthony Crutchfield said.

Cannons blew, and Crutchfield along with incoming general Mangum passed the flag to officially show a change in command for the post.
And right before general Crutchfield left, he let his post know, they will be in good hands.
"I’ve known Kevin for a long time, and I can’t think of anybody better that I feel more comfortable with than taking over the post."

Crutchfield will now be making his way to Hawaii.
Crutchfield says he will truly miss the wiregrass.
He says this isn't a goodbye, rather a farewell.
