BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- A former U.S. Army major and his wife
are scheduled to be sentenced in federal court in Birmingham
following their March convictions on bribery, money laundering and
Eddie Pressley and his wife, Eurica, are scheduled to be
sentenced on Wednesday.
The Huntsville Times reports prosecutors want U.S. District Judge Virginia Emerson Hopkins to sentence Eddie Pressley to life in prison.
The case centered on allegations that Eddie Pressley, while
serving as a contract specialist in Kuwait from October 2004 to
October 2005, conspired with another Army major to direct work to
certain contractors in exchange for bribes.
The Pressleys were convicted of receiving $2.8 million in bribes.
Prosecutors provided records showing large cash transfers from
contractors to a consulting firm account set up by Eurica Pressley.
