(Bonifay, FL)--The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is out in full force for the summer. The commission is looking to save lives and help keep crowds under control.
According to officials, alcohol is allowed on the water, but littering is not. They also say boaters that operate under the influence could face BUI charges.
In Florida, boats and canoes must have enough life jackets for everyone on board. The fine for not having floatation devices is around $65. Vernon resident Dallas Emanuel said while the fine is expensive, he does agree with what police are doing.
"People need to have life-jackets, people need to be cautious, and courteous of those around them," Emanuel said. "The bottom line is if you are going to be out on the water, you have to abide by the law," he said.
Wild Life Game and Commission regulations vary from state to state.
