Florence, Ala. Hospital Impact Put at $1 Billion

RegionalCare Hospital Partners took over operations of the hospital in July and says it wants to build a 300-bed, $250 million replacement.

Building the replacement is contingent upon approval of the Certificate of Need Board, an arm of the State Health Planning and
Development Agency in Montgomery.

If the plan is approved, hospital officials say construction will begin in 2013 and be completed in 2017, a five-year span during which time hundreds of jobs would be added to the local economy and additional dollars would be collected in sales and property tax revenues.
