Daleville High School Wins JROTC Challenge 2013

DALEVILLE -- Hundreds of Wiregrass students are already working towards their future in the military. They showed what countless of hours of determination and focus will accomplish at the JROTC Challenge 2013 on Friday.

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is for any student regardless of their interest in continuing a career in the military.

During the challenge, five local high schools competed in a series of physical fitness, knowledge testing, color guard, marksmanship and drill exhibitions.

Cadets said many life lessons are learned through the JROTC program.

"You have to have consideration of others." Dothan High School Senior Davon Kincey said. "You have to put more people on your back and show them the ropes."

The five schools competing on Friday were Rehobeth, Northview, Enterprise, Dothan, Daleville and Carroll High Schools. The team that took home the overall trophy was Daleville High School with Carroll High as the runner up.

The JROTC Competition is held each year by the Alabama Army National Guard in Daleville.

Students also enjoyed a meal donated by Rocky Creek Seafood in Daleville.
