DOTHAN, Al- Robin Thagard, the owner of Colby's Restuarant in downtown Dothan thought it was going to be a normal day until she smelled gas from inside her shop and rushed her customers outside.
Witnesses say minutes later a fire sparked in the kitchen but was quickly put out by the Dothan Fire Department.
Police are now investigating what could have caused the smell of gas.
With all of the exciting renovations being done to the downtown area, it's a possibility the demolition to the old Wadlington Hotel could have played a part in this incident.
However, Colby's owner says she is just looking forward to opening back up her restaurant.
"Well it has caused some damage, I mean, of course that would be part of it. You just got to take it for what it is and just hope that we can get open again for business very soon. Downtown Dothan is revitalizing and we are going to make it," said Thagard.
Thagard says her Bella restaurant will be safe to open tomorrow but as for Colby's, she is not so sure.
