MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Federal authorities in Montgomery say six people are accused of using identities stolen from state databases to ask for more than $1 million in bogus tax refunds.

Authorities announced the indictment against the group on Wednesday.

The defendants face multiple charges that include filing false claims, theft of government funds, fraud and aggravated identity theft.

One person previously was charged in the case in February, tax preparer Antoinette Djonret.

The woman previously pleaded not guilty.

Now she, her sister and four other people are named in a new indictment.

Authorities say identities taken from an unspecified state database were used to file false tax returns.

In all, authorities say they know of more than 800 false tax returns that sought more than $1.2 million in refunds.
