BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration has
approved a fee hike at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International
Airport.

The charges tacked on to plane tickets will help raise up to $62 million for renovations at the airport.

Construction on the $193 million renovation project is expected to begin early next year. Plans include an expanded baggage claim area, more concessions inside the security checkpoint and a sit-down restaurant.
