An area volunteer fire department is trying to find the money to complete their station.

The Echo Volunteer Fire Department has been renovating the building for more than three years, relying solely on loan and fundraising money.

The project has stalled with little funding, but was started back up again this year.

President, Assistant Chief Echo EMS Kurt McDaniel said, “Being a volunteer agency, everyone knows that it is tough to operate funding-wise and personnel-wise. We want to be able to host everything EMS or fire related, or community related to this facility because it will be really nice once it is completed.”

The volunteers are holding a Fish Fry this Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the community center.

All contributions will go towards completing their headquarters.
