Earthquake Rocks North Alabama


JASPER, Alabama -- A 2.3 magnitude earthquake was detected about 7:30 this morning 8 miles southwest of Jasper, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.'

The quake is the latest low-intensity quake in Walker County in the last nine months.

In March, a 2.7 magnitude earthquake was detected about 7 miles south of Jasper and 6 miles west-southwest of Cordova. In November 2012, a 2.6 magnitude quake was detected about seven miles southwest of Cordova and nine miles south of Jasper.
