(Dothan, AL)--The Dothan Veterinary Association along with the Houston County Health Department are trying to vaccinate all cats and dogs against rabies. A Houston County Rabies Clinic will be held in more than thirty locations across the Wiregrass on Saturday.
The program is aimed at preventing of the most deadly diseases in Alabama.
"What we want to do is build a barrier by vaccinating our pets," Dothan Animal Hospital Veterinarian Ben Garret said. "If we use preventative treatment to protect our pets, then we won't be exposed to rabies," Garret said.
In Alabama pet owners are required to have their pets vaccinated for rabies.
