Dothan School Aide Convicted of Attempted Sodomy

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - A jury has convicted a former aide at a
Dothan school on charges that he tried to molest two students.

Keaton Battle was convicted Tuesday of two counts of enticing a
child for immoral purposes and attempted second-degree sodomy. The Dothan Eagle reports that Houston County sheriff's officers took
the 37-year-old into custody after the verdict.

Houston District Attorney David Atwell said both offenses happened in 2007.

The victims were 15-year-old boys who attended the PASS Academy. Battle worked there as an in-school suspension aide.

Atwell said Battle tried enticing the teenage victims into a vehicle, then attempted sodomy at a Dothan home.

Prosecutors are seeking a 30-year prison sentence.

Defense attorney Eric Davis said he will ask for a lesser punishment.

Lord have mercy! The world is such a dangerous place, our kids are not even safe from the people who are supposed to be their role models! Prayer and unity is our only hope. Perverts and gays are every where, in our schools, churches, the military. Perhaps this instance can be used as a poster child for anti gay rights legislation. A person who would target innocent little boys has no moral standards what so-ever and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I am just dumb-founded, appalled, and taken aback that there are people who would prey on children in our school system. Extensive background checks and investigations are essential to determine a potential employees life-style. So a school system actually hired him! That's like escorting the fox into the chicken coop. Lord have mercy!
